Sangser Homestay

Sangser, Bengal1100

A calm and quiet village at an altitude of about 4300 ft, 27kms from Darjeeling and offering wonderful view of the majestic Kanchenjunga and the Himalayan range.

Sangser, a small village in Kalimpong and on the Bengal - Sikkim border is widely known for its cinchona plantations but recently it has swung its doors open to the avid nature lovers who can steal a few wonderful moments of solitude in its picturesque surroundings. This hamlet is nestled along the slopes of the beautiful Delo Hills facing the amazing Kangchenjunga and the Neora Valley National Park with the Teesta River winding away at the foot hills.

Everywhere you look around, it’s only the greenery, plentiful along the slopes that soothes your tired eyes, pure and unadulterated. A good place for bird watching, the hills are vibrant with lots of the flowering species too. Wake up early, atleast for a dawn to witness the sun rising along the Kangchenjunga, it is heavenly indeed.

Reaching Sangser…

Getting there is an uphill task! Just joking! Actually on the way to Rangpo, you have to take a right turn from Taljhor, and move uphill along a 7 km stretch to reach this abode of peace, and yes, it’s a comfortable journey along the winding roads, beneath the canopy of trees. Nearest Rail-head is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, 80 km and nearest airport being Bagdogra, 85 km away. Kalimpong is 12km from Sangser.
