As the blue pearls dance on my roof tin....
and the fragrance of wet sand fills the air..
I can hear a call from a thousand miles..
of the root bridges and the rocky stair..

The rolling hills and meadows intersperse with pine forests give way to towering peaks with jagged edges. Come to the abode of clouds, ‘Meghalaya’, and you will discover how people have lived for centuries, in complete harmony with Nature and continue to do so even now. Modernisation here, means a whole lot of things to the people, really.
Only about 3 hrs drive from Shillong, this homestay is ideally located for numerous day trips to some splendid nature trails. Some waterfalls have created crystal clear plunge pools which are great for swimming. Guided treks to the limestone caves would give you a surreal experience.

Best time to go:
The perpetual cycle of rainfall in the monsoon season makes road journey tricky but the place is at its pristine best. Still, October to April would be great to explore Sohra as well as Meghalaya as a whole.
How to reach:
Cherrapunjee is just 60 km from Shillong and the journey takes about 1 hour 35 minutes by car. Many travellers combine a visit to Cherrapunjee and Shillong when they are drawing up their travel plans in Meghalaya. A rather steep road that's perpetually covered in mist leads up to Cherrapunjee and when the mists clears away you will be rewarded with sparkling sunshine and memorable views.
