Gorumara Tea Garden Stay

A place in the heart of a tea garden. Acres of greenery all around. Sombre silence percolating into the solitude. Warm hospitalty and homely atmosphere. Far from the chaos that we call urbanity. All of that and much more, sums up to a healing touch.

❛Oh! pleasant, pleasant were the days,
The time, when in our childish plays
My sister Emmeline and I
Together chased the Butterfly!❜
— Wordsworth

When the office bays and cubicles try to take claustrophobic forms, you know where to head straight away.
Now, how close can you be to Mother Nature? Close enough if your doors open right into the tea bushes, literally.

The glimpses

Welcome to Gorumara Tea Garden Stay in Dooars. This homestay is within a private tea garden in Lataguri in the buffer zone of the famous Gorumara National Park. The beautiful cottages amidst the sprawling tea gardens, lots of area nut palms guarding the backyard and an ever pervading silence engulfing you peacefully, the settings are sublime no doubt. That silence is oft broken by chirping birds, beetles, squirrels and other little creatures who call it their home. A lot of avian friends shout out their presence. Scarlet minivet, woodpeckers, Asian paradise flycatcher, sunbird, peafowls etc can be spotted here. Butterflies in multitudes, and Giant squirrels are also dwell in the woods.

Then ofcourse, you would meet the women workers in the plucking season. They move around the tea bushes with huge wicker baskets, their deft fingers plucking tender pairs of tea leaf and the bud in between. Their humming melodies are like a sweet, soft lullaby, perhaps you may not comprehend, but still love to listen.

The Gorumara Tea Garden Stay has FOUR Cottages, all double bedded, with attached bath and a nice little verandah. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. There’s a separate dining hall adjacent to the kitchen, big enough for all the guests.
